Ian and Steve have over 55 years’ business and marketing experience between them, and this depth of knowledge has turned out to be quite an advantage for Alchemy.

The two met whilst on a year-long mentorship, studying under one of the world’s leading social media marketing experts, and quickly realised two very important things.

Firstly most agencies aren’t dynamic enough to keep up with the latest trends in social media marketing. To be fair, trends can change weekly, so this can be quite a challenge. The thing is these changes can be so incredibly powerful, you really need to take advantage as early as possible, before everyone else does, and certainly before the next big thing arrives.

Secondly, if you get really good at marketing using a relatively narrow strategy, you can get stellar results. This means you don’t need to waste time and money trying to cover ALL the traditional marketing bases. Just do a few things really well and suddenly you’re in a great place.

Many people do the opposite; they try and cover every base and spend a small fortune (and lots of time) doing so, only to find they’re a jack of some trades and master of none.

Since this type of marketing moves so quickly, agencies need to spend a lot of time and resource trying to stay on top of it. Smaller agencies struggle to do this because they can’t afford the bandwidth. Larger agencies CAN afford to do it, but then they usually come with large fees ‘which small business struggle to afford’.
